Cool Fords Vs. Foreign

I just saw on the TV that the Honda Ridgeline was named truck of the year or something like that. I think it gives Americans a pretty bad rep. when they compare one series of truck and call it the best. I looked on honda's beside and that i the only truck they offer, no heavy duty. just wondered what others had to say about this.

As far as the Honda Ridgeline is concerned, I'm sure that it's good for its segment. Kind of a chochball, yuppie, I'm environmentally aware, don't need a truck, but still secretly yearn for one market segment.

Now as far as foreign vs Ford, that's a debate as I'd venture to say that Toyota makes a better truck. They just don't make HDs yet. But with Nissan's new diesel HD I'm sure that Toyota is at the drawing board.

Exactly. It wasn't a credible group or anything. Nobody in thier right mind would publish that stupid Honda truck as truck of the year without $$$ involved.

"Truck of the year" motortrend wasn't it?

Wow that awards gone to crap. If you look up news on the ridgeline, Honda is cutting production severly. No ones buying it, so much for the "Truck of the year"

In complete fairness, the Ridgeline is good at what it does... and it is enough truck for the majority of people out there.
Would I own one on the other hand?

Make that an emphatic NO.

When they make a list for the Trucks of the year, they only look at news trucks. Ridgeline was competing against Mitsubishi Raider, Isuzu I-Series, Lincoln Mark LT and Dodge Ram Mega Cab.

Ram should've won.

Keep in mind it was the Truck of the Year, not best truck. The award almost always goes to the vehicle that has the most dramatic change from normal. This is the same magazine that gave Car of the Year to the Vega, Renault Alliance and AMC Pacer among other unusual winners.

In the words of my grandfather, who has worked on cars since the 60's. "That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen, anyone who would own that needs to be slapped." He is now a chevy man, and this was his exact quote when he saw a Avalanche, another unibody truck.

PS, I about died laughing when he said this.

for my truck info i turn to rags like 4wheeler and Petersons. They tend to test something how i would. Petersons said flat out "why do we care" about the ridgline and perty much said it was worthless to someone who uses a truck as a truck. That is a review i would listen to right there.

I see where ya'll are comin from here, but also take into consideration that not everyone needs an F-150 or a 1500 Dodge or Chevy every day, and sometimes the Ranger is too small (WHERES THE CREWCAB RANGER WHEN YOU NEED IT!?) For those folks who have families, yet every once in a while, needs to haul their kids' bikes around, or maybe grab a sheet or two of drywall, this "truck" suits them just fine. Would you rather have the folks who bought the Ridgeline, pay for a big honkin truck, and drive fuel prices up higher because of them wasting it? Ya'll complain about people driving these vehicles, yet you also complain about fuel prices being high.

So let's face it. It's got a bed, so it can be classified as a truck. A light, light duty truck, but it's still a truck right?
