I have a manual transmission on this truck. Its a 4.0 L V6. Looking to upgrade to an F-150 soon. However, in the meantime I am wondering if the ranger with 85,000 miles on it can toe the new trailer. Ie. whatis a safe load that the ranger can handle. I would like to pull an enclosed 6X12 single axle trailer with two motorbikes and some gear, but I dont want to 'hurt' the old ranger before i sell it while I am looking for a new (used) F150.....
so what have people pulled with the ranger safely. Should mention that it will only tow very infrequently, ie not more than a few times before I find a new truck.....

It depends on your axle ratio. Look in the owners manual for your towing capacity. You should be alright towing up to 3000 or 3500 pounds if the trailer has brakes and you have a brake controller.

 

I would include also that you need to have a frame mounted hitch instead of the bumper mount.
