Proposed Gas Tank Relocate

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Nov-02 AT 07:36 PM (EST)]I went Big!

I just installed a 90 gallon L shaped tank in the bed. Unfortunately for now, it is white. It was about $330 at a local truck and trailer store. If I think I can get inspected with this setup, I will remove the cab tank. 90 Gallons ought to be enough. For now, it doesn't look nearly as good as Truck35's setup, but I will eventually paint it with the rest of the truck.

I'll put up some pics soon.

Proposed Gas Tank Relocate

I am new member to this website but so far have been impressed. Its good to have access to such a wide selection of Ford Truck minds. I own a 1969 F-250 and I did not like the gas tank behind the seat settup- or the side mounted one actually. I ended up getting a tank from a 73` Chevy (yes, I know, but what the hell, I figured I at least did some damage to the worthless Chevy when I ripped out her tank) and I mounted it between the rails in the very back of my truck. I have then since shaved EVERYTHING so it looks very nice and I am very happy with it. I had tp buy an aftermarket sender but it was cheap and easy to do. I think thats the way to go- but it all depends on what your goal with the truck is. I steered away from the "classic" look and have gone for a bit more modern look. Hope it helps a little.

OneFine69,

Just for discussion purposes only ;-) what size tank is the Chebby? And what year truck did it come from?

Also could you explain how the install went. Any problems or mod's that you incountered, exactly where it is located. Any pic's?

Thanks,
Lee

Here is some pics of the beast! I think it will look allright when painted. It's big, but with a long bed there is plenty of room left. Plus, it's designed to fit a tool box over the lower part.
