group buy on A460 blocks
I just got offered a deal on buying what Ford calls "blem" A460 blocks, what this means is they don't pass the sonic test to be able to go clear to 4.6" bore but will still go to 4.5", they still hve the 4 bolt billet main caps, priority main oiling, 18bolt cyl head machining and siemese bores. The "good" A460 blocks list at $2295 but these "blems" are going to be $1595 each both plus shipping. If I can get a drop ship of 4 blocks it will save on the shipping costs for everyone otherwise I will just buy one for myself. The max is 1 or 2 cylinders don't have enough meat on a thrust wall to go all the way out to teh required 4.6" but you could either sleeve it or offset bore if you really needed to get there and all blocks do come with a sonic test sheet.
This is a limited time deal and I have to make up my mind this week so if anyone is interested let me know
And the reason why I am posting htis in the Iowa chapter is A. wouldn't be any savings if I have to turn around and ship it again, and B. it's not really out in the general knowledge base because the dealer that has gotten these doesn't want some unscroupulus parts dealer to get a hold of them and resell them as first quality blocks at full retail so only selling to end users he knows.
BTW just cause they are listed as Blem doesn't mean that they are bad just the one spec is out of line everything else is right on these blocks or they wouldn't even sell them just remelt them down but these can still be used safely upto 572 cid without a problem.

Well, this offer is done, I am having one block drop shipped to me (got lucky and ford had one sitting by itself on a pallet) But if anyone still wants one get a hold of me and I will see if there is any available blems at that time, and what the shipping would be. Or if not one of those you can always just get a "good" block for around $2195 + shipping as I recall.
