I have access to a program where you input your dimensions that you are limited to, such as height and depth, along with what volume you want, and it will tell you the missing dimensions. Give me your limiting figures, along with wood thickness and volume desired and I will see if I can do the rest.

There's a volume calculator on that page. second or third from the top.

0.34 is probably all right for an 8" sub. I have 10's and the boxes they're in are smaller than the minimum size recommended by the mfr. Then again I've seen plenty of mass produced boxes for 10" subs, that were made out of 5/8 MDF, that would give you a smidge more volume. An 8" should be fine in a box made of 5/8" mdf.

Make a cardboard mock-up enclosure. It's very easy, and you can get really specific in what is needed. Then take OUTSIDE enclosure measurements and go from there. When doing calculations, don't forget to allow for wall thicknesses of your MDF, or whatever you use. It's really not hard to do, but can be very time consuming. If you only have 4" of space under your seat, you're going to have to have a seat lift. Adding 1 1/2"(when using 3/4" MDF) for the top and bottom of your enclosure, that only leaves another 2 1/2", which means you have to have a sub with mounting depth of less than that. Not gonna happen. Are you sure of the 4" measurement?
