Well if cell phones had the coverage that Onstar has that might be an option. But last year I became my sisters keeper meaning I have to be available by phone 24/7. Onstar is the only phone that covers about 99% of the US. Made it really easy for me to sign up.

Oh ya, no keys in the new Corvette.

VERIZON WIRELESS........................ New 2007 Camry also keyless. I don't really get it but it's pretty cool. BTW, 2006 Corvette VERY sweet.

Got to give them credit where credit is due..............
Don't really like 'em............but I've read the '85's and half the '86's(??) were horrendous......by the time GM got 'em figured out, the damage was done AND gasoline went down in price again. What year was yours??

Same story as the Pontiac Fiero....the last year they had a semi-warm V6, their own front suspension (instead of sharing the Chevette crap) then they canned it.

Ford on the other hand lets things stagnate and THEN drops it....My Marauder was a perfect example of a red-headed step child that could have been GREAT!!..........The Lightning .........Adrenaline (what could have been)

Really looking forward to the Shelby.........hope Ford sticks with it.

(think I got the Olds years wrong....but the supporters say they were "near perfect at the end"....blinders maybe?...LOL!!)

Sorry Verizon Wireless does not come even close to having the same coverage. I also have Verizion which is what I use when not traveling. The other nice thing about Onstar is that it is much more powerful than cell.

You should of stuck it out and been GM's Alpha tester........they could/should eventially get it right........LOL!!!

I edited my last post.........I think I have my years all messed up. Supposedly by 85 they had all the bracket/engine bolts figured out.

Verizon is all I need. I guess I'm not a "power user".

Yes, 1978-1985 it took them a while to realize they had a real POS on their hands.

Like I said I have to be able to be reached 24/7. And since our vacations usaully entail about 7000 miles of driving every year thoughout the west Onstar makes more sense than just about any other system. I guess a sat phone would be best but talk about pricey.

Another reason I like it is that if for any reason something bad happens they can call for help. My sister in law has had 3 very nasty early morning weeks. The first time it happened no one found her for 6 hours. The other 2 see had Onstar and help was there in 15 minutes. Oh these accidents where not her fault persay but deer crossing the road. In her part of the world this happens all the time.

To funny DOHC and in this case I do agree. Anyone that buys that car should have it burned. Best thing that could happen.
