Thumbs down Front Rear End seal out on my 55 F250

I picked up my truck today from the impound lot. I have a slum lord who owns a property behind me and thinks my drive should also be his turn around. I was having my carb rebuilt and he must have seen me taking it off. The city of Massillon, Ohio has an ordinance about vehicles being plated and "drivable". Since my truck was not "drivable", he called the police and complained. I showed the officer my bill from the rebuild kit, but he had it towed anyway. I guess this guy has called the cheif every day for the last week. When the truck was towed, they left it in gear. When I loaded it up on my roll off, I notice rear end grease coming out of the front of the rear end. Now I have to figure out how to replace the seal. Any help would be greatly Appreciate. By the way does anyone know how to change your name on FTE. I am currently using my ebay name.

Thanks Kevin

go over to his house and yank every wire you can reach under his hood first off.

2nd off i would file a complain with the local state police against the officer and have a lawyer friend contact them for the towing repair and storage fees then get rid of the neighbor!

Are you talking about the pinion seal? If so, you need to remove the drive shaft, take off the pinion nut, pull the yolk and pull the seal, get a new seal and tap it back in. Put the yolk back on and tighten the nut. Don't over crank it, but make sure it is on good. You don't want to over tighten it though. put it back together and it should not leak. I did one on my '62 many, many moons ago. You might want to use some loketite on the nut. I had a nut loosen up on one of my suburbans and the drive shaft came out and the rear end locked up and broke a couple of teeth on the gears.

Kevin,

The *real* reason the neighbor had your truck impounded is because you mow your grass only once a year, you have 4 loud, annoying dogs, a symphony of wind chimes, a cat that likes to sleep on (and scratch up) his car, you play loud music at 11 PM, your kids run around screaming with no clothes on, and the thing that pushed him over the edge was that one time he found a dead raccoon in his yard with a note that says "DIE NEIGHBOR DIE" tied around its foot..

HA! hehe. just kidding. I have a 55 F-250 too. When you gonna add it to the gallery?

I disagree with Nixer.. I think you should keep the neighbors car running, just cut his break cables bwa ha aha hahaha

Thanks for the reply. I will try to add the truck to the gallery once I get the carb back. I will do the repair as suggested by fowl1. Does anyone know how to change my user name? I want to come up with a clever one like bigwin56, he's my idol! Kevin, call me and lets work something out on the 54! The gas tank is going back in the 55 on tuesday!
