Buck Owens died today - he was 76 and died in his home.

He was a country and western singer in the 60's, and remained popular for years. I can't say I knew him, but had met him at several News Paper doings, and he helped us save the Madera County Fair when we need help in the worst way.

He was from Bakersfield, and returned there after he hit it big - Seems like he owned about half the town, but his door was always open to anyone who had a civic improvement or a good cause.

He was just a good old boy who made good and helped his home town - but good old boys are getting hard to find nowdays.

I will miss him - he was one of my heros. There is just not many left who leave big tracks in our valley.
