Wow. Found a solution to mount stereo and have it look normal in the dash. Not angled funny. Go to best buy and purchase a mounting kit for a DIN radio--99-9222. I think it is stock for a 1975-1993 Volvo. Use it upside down. Bend your ears back and take two sheet metal screws and drill through the new plastic mount into the ears. It will fit great and place the face of the stereo perpendicular to the dash. The angle is perfect. It makes the install look like factory. The kit is only 15 bucks and eliminates a lot of hassle and a stupid looking angled face. bryan

Can you post a link to it or is there any pics of it anywhere? I have heard about that before but now that i know it's for real I need to see it and get it. Thanks
Well, I don't have any pictures yet. There aren't any links that I know of. I think I listed the part number. It is really straightforward and simple. Look at the part and go from there. You will see how it goes and it will work like a champ. My truck is in a million pieces right now, but I can put a picture through to you after all the stuff I am waiting for gets here through UPS and the holidays. bryan
i was kinda curious what the volvo mounting kit would look like so i looked it up and this is what i found. is this the same one that you were talking about Bryan?
That's it. I finished the install today. I don't like it. The stereo looks out of place in the old truck. I wish I had left well enough alone. Of course it sounds good and I did a good job so it will be fine. I maybe should have bought a somewhat more sensible head unit. The mount is fine, it's the stereo itself that is retarded looking. bryan
