Tranny noise in 3rd gear when cold?
You might have seen my other post a few days ago regarding a noise I have when my truck's cold. Just today I noticed something: I think it might be coming from the transmission.
The noise: A similar sound to valve tap, piston slap, or an exhuast leak. A sort of soft, scraping/knocking noise that only happens for the first mile or two when the engine is cold. After that,it's gone.
Today as it was making the noise, i switched in to Nuetral and held the engine at the same RPM and did not hear it. I also noticed that it's more pronounced in 3rd gear.
Has anyone ever heard of such a noise coming from the transmission when cold? Is this even possible, or could I just hearing what is really coming from the engine?
