Let Ford know about the V10 motor 99Y

Part of what we are looking at may be political correctness. The Jeep Liberty has a diesel this year. There is a review (at Edmund's, I think) showing its fuel economy as worse than the RAV4 gas engine.
A V10 does not get buyers into the show room to be shown fuel economy claims that don't exact pan out. I can still refer you to a couple of friends whose fuel economy on their '01's doesn't equal my '01 V10.
Many buyers are expecting the fuel efficiency on a HD truck that would equal that found on the diesel Ranger in the mid 80's. I wish....

That's one of the funny things... any large truck like the SD takes a certain amount of energy to move through the air and to overcome friction.
I think if we put a 2.0L 4-cyl in a Superduty, you'd still get around 15 max on the highway.
Look at hybrids. They boast GREAT city mileage, but hardly ever mention highway mileage. Their highway mileage is almost the same as the regular full-gasoline model.
Which reminds me, I have to dash off a letter-to-the-editor of Newsday wondering why hybrids can use the HOV lanes on the Long Island Expressway, running 55MPH and higher, when they hardly get any better mileage than their gasoline counterparts?
