well we have lived in this house almost 1 and 1/2 years and looking to move again, but the place we are looking at doesn't have a garage.
so I am now looking for pre fab steel buildings. so for question #1 what mfg. should I go with?
And has anyone built one recently and what is the price range?
thinking 25' by 50'
I have never put up a steel prefab garage. Having put up a steel shed I would avoid them like the plague. Check around for a prefab wood building or kit. Check the back of a Popular Mechanics magazine for the steel buildings. Check out their websites and the installation instructions.
If you want to go with prefab I would recommend heritage buildings out of Arkansas. They can design any size and shape building you want and send it as a complete or partial kit. After you agree on what building and order they will send you a set plans for your concrete work. They can even supply an engineers stamp if required by your codes. Everything is bolt together. I have a friend who has several buildings and even very large airplane hangers built by them and he is very satisfied. It is shipped in when requested and you, some buddies, beer....more beer, beer, and put it together. Or you can do like I did and built my own metal building. My design my selection of materials. Thought I would save alot.... Should have bought the prefab, it would have been cheaper. If you order one I recommend ordering the complete package insulation, windows, doors, and all. Will save money in long run. Good luck.
I purchased a 42'x60'x14' building from MiracleTruss. They were great to deal with and their quality is excellent. They are a little more pricey than some buildings, but you have to look close at what you are getting for the money. I thought about getting a cheaper building, but kept coming back to the MiracleTruss because of concerns of how the cheaper buildings would hold up over the years. I'm going to be inmy house until I die, so I thought it was better not to cut corners. Also, they tend to have special deals on some of their buildings. I wasn't looking for this size building, but when he told me the price, I couldn't resist!
Put up my new Garage about 3 months ago. Premier Building Systems. 30 x 50, 14' Tall. Simple to do. Cheaper than wood. Building with shipping cost about $11,000. It was all bolt together red-iron frame. Steel sheathing and roofing.
