I everybody, I just bought a 2006 4x2 ranger XLT 3.0L with 225/70/15 tires I don't like the look of those tires can I replace them with 235/75/15 without messing the ABS or anything else you guy can think of it. Thanks this is a great forum
The new tires diameter would be 1.5" bigger, your speedometer might be off a little bit but I wouldn't expect any major issues. I have a link on reprograming the computer for tire size changes in the tech info thread at the top of this forum.
make sure changing the tire size dosen't void your warranty in any way
As long he doesn't change the rim he should be fine....
I've had 2 different Rangers with a bigger wall size and the dealers never said a word about them when making warranty drive-line / drivetrain fixes. Btw: that was with 3 different Dealers.... 3 Different service departments.... So he Should be Okay
I did the same change to my previous Ranger, a 99' 2x, I had no rubbing issues, no ABS or brake issues, and if I am remembering correctly I think it made the speedo like 2 or 3 miles off at 55. It was still pretty close to on, I ended up lifting and going with bigger wheels and tires eventually so I can't quite remember the exact numbers off the speedo was, I just recall it was pretty minimal. It was a good change for the truck though, good luck -
The rule of thumb is that you can allways go up one tire size, Rangers are pretty forgiving, I know guys that run 245's on thier 2 wheel drive rangers with no lift, and they have never mentioned a problem, so 235's should be safe for sure.
