new around here, looking for good tranny

Howdy, I'm the proud owner of a '99 one ton and like every one it didn' stay stock for long. Put on the ussual. Intake, 4 inch turbo back, Banks 6 gun and Banks big hoss. Also made it go higher. A 6 inch Skyjacker suspention, 2 inch leveling kit, 38x15 superswamper ssr's on Weld Stonecrusher 16.5x12 rims. I didn't change gears or put in a shift kit and now I'm paying for it. My tranny doesn't like to shift into overdrive, or really shift at all. Any suggestions on a good aftermarket tranny. Or maybe a good way to beef mine up. Any help would be great........ gettin some pictures put on later.

Talk to Brian at BTS. www.brianstruckshop.com He specializes in Ford transmissions. You won't find a better tranny or better service, IMO.

Cangim just rebuilt his with some heavy duty parts just last week. Search for his posts. I think all parts & torque converter was around $1200.

TS Performance also makes a good tranny with a good warranty behind it. 36 month unlimited hp/unlimited mileage warranty. They're also an FTE sponsor, so check them out.

What exactly do you mean when you say that it doesn't really shift at all? I also have a big lift and big tires with 373's and the only problem I have is the transmission doesn't want to shift until I get anywhere in-between 2000 and 2500 rpm's. From that I just get lousy fuel mileage. I was thinking of going with different gears like 410's or something similar to that. Maybe that is all you need unless your transmission is actually screwed up. What do you think?

And with those big tires, consider a regear to get the ratio back. It will unload the transmission as well.

When I say it doesn't really shift at all, its more like I got to work with it. If I take off it doesn't like to shift into second unless I play with the throttle, sometimes I got to shift manually. It's pretty wierd sometimes. And when it does hit 3rd, I mean it hits 3rd like its got a shift kit. When I put on small (regular) sized tires it sqeals when it shifts and sounds like everything is about to break in half.........but it looks like the BTS won out on popularity. thanks for all the info.
