96 ford bronco security

i have a 96 eddie bauer and the security light never comes on. there is a bulb in it and it's new but it never lights up. also, what does it take to get the alarm to go off? i know the panic button but if i lock the doors and even make the horn chirp i can open the doors and nothing happens. surely my bronco came with security, why would there be a bulb to indicate this?

As far as I know the system used in the 94-96 broncos was just a keyless entry system.

Its more than likely that the lamp only indicates a problem with the system. So as long as you DON'T see it come on things should be fine.

my 96 just came with keyless entry the horn would beep once if you hit the lock key twice or you could use the panic feature but it was no alarm. thats why i had a viper keyless entry/alarm/remote start with the 2 way pageing alarm. and the pager sit next to the 12 guage at night.
