What foods are from your country?
What foods do you have in your country?
We have a dew things, but predominately our diets are based upon our immigrants.
But here are some things famous around Australia:
Tim Tams
Glorious choclate biscuits
Meat Pie
Not exlusive to Australia, but I don't know of any country that eats as many of these as us.
Lamington
Choclote and coconut coated sponge cake.
I would like to claim pavlova, but bootie will probably (quite rightly) chime in and say it was a kiwi invention.

Yes but, I posted a link to canadian recipes to show what we make out of these foods that are readily available in Canada.
ie: They don't have Black or Grizzly bears in Auz.
I try to think outside the box.
I have a special Recipe book "Cooking In Canada" but I won't type them all out.
This too should help.

It includes all the rare things that Other countries don't have.
The things we don't have to import.

Well, venezuelan "parrilla" (BBQ) is a must, also we have "arepas" and "empanadas", some kind of bread you might call it, they have round/half round shape and are made of corn flour (not even slightly like mexican tortillas so don´t ask), "hallacas" is the traditional christmas dish, it´s made pouring a "guiso" stew or special stuffing (that varies depending on the region, but mainly meats: pork, beef, ham) in a base made of the same corn flour as the arepas, all wrapped in platain leafs... See? now i´m hungry, see ya, i´ll post with more later

Is that anything like the Swedish "Blood Pudding"? It's basically bread soaked in blood...truly nasty in my opinion!
A favorite English dish is "Toad in the Hole" which is sausages in Yorkshire pudding, for those of you who don't know. I was turned on to it as a kid by friends in Kent.
Question for our neighbors in the vast frozen Northlands: recently my mom was chatting waith a Canadian lady on one of her senior friends forums and was told about the best candy in the world, Coffee Crisp. I did search and found that it has made appearances here in the US on occasion, but disappear off the shelves very quickly, sometimes with one person buying the store's entire stock. Are they really that good? And who can I get to send me some?!
My country's contribution to food? I can't think of anything to be proud of...hamburgers maybe...but good ones, not the mass-produced fast-food chain glop. Cajun food, BBQ maybe.
