9 March (today) is the anniversary of the Battle of the Monitor and the Merrimack. It is amazing that 144 years ago today there was a battle on the water I drive over daily that deteremined the future of both American and naval history. I'm going to the Mariners Museum (Newport News, VA) tomorrow for their big event this weekend. They have the turret of the Monitor and tons of artifacts from the two ironclads. I am going to defenitly be getting a lot of pictures to post online and will be sure to share.
