My truck is perfectly quiet. I'm waiting for the baffles in the muffler to collapse (as its as cheap-OEM ripoff) so i can gut it and straight pipe my 300 or add a Raven or some other muffler to give it a nice tone.

Yeah i know. I'm not going for that either, just a rumble that sounds ok at cruise. I've heard a few of em opened up, and while the sound is nice it is ricey.

97 F-350 powerstroke.....4" straight pipes to 5" tip....real fun in parking garages! been kicked out of three of my friends neighborhoods by the cops thusfar for starting her up to warm in the winter. getting a bit annoying, however, thinking of putting my magnaflow muffler back on.

got a new exhaust on my 76, headman HTC headers into 2.5" true duals with a single chamber muffler exiting infront of the rear wheels. it has a nice sound at idle and it just roars wide open. i had the headers before i had money for the exhaust and i had to rip my old exhaust off to put the headers on so for about 2 weeks i ran it on open headers. i had to be smart about how i got to places becuase that thing was so loud a radio was pointless i never did get pulled over for it though.

rice?? my mild 300 has 2.5" at the manifold, immediatly after that the downpipe goes to 3" and runs all the way back straight with a 45 bend out infront of the pass side rear tire. nice an tucked up to the frame. doesn't even have a 5" tip yet.

i have only heard it once driving by me. and it sounded like one of those antique oliver pulling tractors, sweet. no rice, no v8 just pure un molested long strokin I6 music. it was sooo sweet.

my buddies say it sounds mean. and this is coming from the typical v8 country boys.

with the #1 cyl lifters ticking i can pass it off as a diesel. i now have new lifters, just need to wait to go home on the weekend to install them.

i like it. yes it does scare girls. scares my friends that are girls, scared my ex....well scared her enough to grab on to me. driving through the college parking lot car alarms go off, people move out of the way, and cops put down their donuts to check it out. i too have to coast by the authorities. cops don't like me. idk why, they just ruin teenage fun when your neighbors call to compain i am riding my gokart too fast or my lawnmower too fast on the road.

uh i do like the old cummins roar, enough i am thinking of getting one instead of a psd.....don't worry i am keeping the 85.

DT

forgot to add, i have a kenwood 200 watt sirius sat/mp3 unit and a 200 watt amp to run 2 8"s and the head unit powers 2 6" 3way sony door speakers, 4 tweeters 2 front 2 rear. i like good sound, i can tell you the freebird guitar solo is clear as grandpas moonshine. and the bass kicks enough to give it nice depth, and the mids are there nice.

On my 65 Mustang, too loud according to the law, I have gotten 2 tickets so far, one for excessive noise, and one for defective exhaust system aka running open headers. Even with the header mufflers on there, its just as loud because they are just burnt out glasspacks that bolt onto the end of my long tube headers. Sets off a LOT of car alarms.

On my 54 F100...not too loud, I have flowmaster 40series that dump infront of the rear wheels. Its a 2 1/2" true dual from the manifolds back, 2 1/2" H-pipe, all fully custom and welded by me.

My Contour SVT, loud enough to be heard, not too loud to get tickets. Its pretty much stock with the resonator cut out so it is a bit louder than stock.
