Angry My first SES light....and it sucks.

Greetings all. Tonight on my way home from work, as i got up to speed (65ish) noticed a brief jerk as if the truck stopped and start in a milli-second. Thought nothing of it. Got on another road and doin 55ish and same thing twice. About 5 minutes from home the SES light comes on. Went to AutoZone and no codes. What would this be? Granted I was a bit low on fuel, but the LFL was not on so I had many miles left. When I got home, shut it off, started up just great...no problems.
I)166k miles 1999A f250 PSD
II)Road was wet and just enough rain for long delayed wipers.
III)NEVER had this trouble on 2000 mile trip a few weeks ago.
IV)NO MODS except stock APCM
V)Fuel down to about 1/4 or less a tank.
VI)New air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, and Synthetic oil about 2 thousand miles ago.

Probably gonna have to go to the stealership.

**EDIT: Just remembered...the night I left for that long trip, I started the truck, let it idle about 30 seconds, turned on the wipers and it quit. Fired right back up though. Probably unreleated.

They're very fickle devices...sometimes u get the SES and sometimes no light.
Could affect mileage slightly since it has to do with injection timing.

I'm 99% sure it's the CPS. They will throw codes, but it's odd that the computer didn't store it. I agree with Nut that it could affect mileage.

There is a stored code, but Autozone's hand held scanner that the cashiers keep behind the counter does not pull codes off our PSD's. I have personally tried several auto parts stores and none of them can pull a code, but take it directly to a shop and run it on a "real" scanner and there they are.

I agree, if the light was on, there will be a code.

Check out ebay for another CPS. There are a couple of guys that sell them for about $58 plus $8 USPS Priority shipping. This is not the "blue" cps that is the subject of much discussion but a replacement for your original. Way cheaper than anywhere else.

Well, I would lean towards yes, to stay with the original. You can't go wrong with the original. There's still controversy surrounding the blue one.
