Did the CCV mod awhile ago.. now some questions

I routed it all the way back to the bumper and stuck the hose where that little black plastic O-ring thing is now im getting some oil drip, is there a better pace to mount this.

Also, im still getting a fair amount of black oil residue on the intercooler lines, i thought one of the benefits of the CCV mod was that it eliminates this dirty build up.

You should route it into the exhaust. That way everything it gets burned off and or just blown out the back.

Thats my plan when I get my lazy self out there to do it.

Black residue or oily residue?

EDIT: Oh' you said oily.... Maybe just leftover residue from intercooler? I asked once and there have been threads about cleaning out the intercooler.

My guess is a residue on the inside of your lines and intercooler, plus a slight boost leak at one of the clamps is what's causing the oily substance to still appear on your engine. A thorough cleaning of the intake tract, including the intercooler connecting tubes and rubber boots, and the intercooler if you're up to it.

You can run the CCV into the exhaust. Jegs sells a nice weld on bung that will allow you to attach the hose. Here's a link to it:

Thanks for that link, i'll probably do that. Is there any way to fix the possible boost leak? new hoses maybe, or just clamp them down tighter?

btw here is what i did today:

I think it turned out nice..

Painted the 'powerstroke' thing

Painted the ford thing blue

both together

That looks nice. I've never seen a truck look that clean under the hood, except for new ones in the dealer showroom.

My 02 that I sold looked good like that under the hood. None of the fancy work done, but very clean. Since I cant find a replacement, I am really starting to miss my truck.

99, great pics and you answered a question that I was going to post. At the "Y" at the top, I notice that there is a radiator type clamp there. It did not look right to me, but I guess it is correct.

Just thought about this, for guys running pre turbo for pyro, wonder how hard it would be to use the probe bung on the DP to route the CCV to. Wonder if it would build up oil in the exhaust, or if there would be enough flow to blow it all out the tail pipe.

It is a worm gear clamp, but it has a v-band under that band. Don't know why they used a worm gear v-band clamp there, but it does seal with an o-ring so it may not need the pressure that a t-bolt v-clamp has.

Cangim,

That's an area of the exhaust system with the maximum post-turbo pressure. ANY restriction to flow (cat or muffler) would cause enough pressure to hinder the crankcase blowby gasses from making their completely unrestricted way to the outside.

Minimum restriction (if any) is what you're looking for.
