oil leak

Changing the oil in my 79 F150 (351m engine) today, I discovered that the drain bolt had been cross threaded. I rethreaded the bolt and the hole in the pan but ended up with a bolt a tiny bit too small and a hole a tiny bit too large and it won't seal tight. I don't have the time to get a new pan and install it right away (i'm leaving for a week on Friday) Is it safe to use teflon tape or a similar product to achieve a good seal as a temporary fix? If anyone has a quick and more permanent solution I'm open to suggestions.

They make several oversize replacement bolts, go to the local autoparts and aske for the first oversize drain plug. It is self threading and made for this. They go up to 3 oversize.
