Fender Removal

I have a 98' ranger with the stepside bed. My landlord back into the rear fender and I am planning on having the new fender painted and just changing it my self and making a couple buck for myself. What I was wandering is what do I have to do to change it

Just for reference the standard bed sides are welded.


SECTION 501-04: Pickup Bed and Platform Body 1999 Ranger Workshop Manual

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Panel
Removal

Remove the tailgate.
Remove the rear lamps (13404); refer to Section 417-01 .
Remove the body side panel step mat(s).

Remove the body side outside upper moulding(s).
Remove the plug buttons.
Remove the screws.
Remove the body side outside upper moulding(s).

If removing the LH body side outer panel, remove the fuel filler cap.
NOTE: Mark the position of the fuel filler cap tether for proper installation.

If removing the LH body side outer panel, remove the filler neck screws.

If equipped, remove the mud flap(s).
Remove the rear wheel splash shield(s).
Remove the five screws.
Remove the five pushpins.
Remove the rear wheel splash shield(s).

CAUTION: Use care not to scratch the pickup bed.

NOTE: Label the pickup bed bolts because they are not identical and must be installed in the same location that they are removed from.

Remove the pickup bed bolts.

With the aid of an assistant, move the pickup bed toward the rear of the truck enough to access the front panel to bed bolts.
Remove the step screws.

Remove the rear lamp opening bolts.

Remove the lower rear body side outer panel screw.

Remove the three front panel to bed bolts.

Remove the body side outer panel(s).
Remove the screws.
Remove the body side outer panel(s).

Installation

Install the body side outer panel(s).
Position the body side outer panel(s).
Install the screws.

Install the three front panel to bed bolts.

Install the lower rear body side outer panel screw.

Install the rear lamp opening bolts.

Install the step screws.

With the aid of an assistant, position the pickup bed.
CAUTION: Use care not to scratch the pickup bed.

Install the pickup bed bolts.

Install the rear wheel splash shield(s).
Position the rear wheel splash shield(s).
Install the five pushpins.
Install the five screws.

If equipped, install the mud flap(s).
NOTE: Position the fuel filler cap tether.

If installing the LH body side outer panel, install the fuel filler neck screws.

If installing the LH body side outer panel, install the fuel filler cap.
Install the body side outside upper moulding(s).
Position the body side outside upper moulding(s).
Install the screws.
Install the plug buttons.

Install the body side panel step mat(s).

Install the rear lamps; refer to Section 417-01 .
Install the tailgate.
