Try www.car-part.com for a junkyard near you, and also try some of the sponsors here. Many companies offer a reproduction air cleaner assembly, if you want to keep it completely stock.

Thanks yall, but could yall tell me what size the air filter should be? My grandpa owned the truck until his death in 1999 and now I have it. He installed a manual choke and when he did it caused the original air filter to not fit or somethin like that, but anyway he ended up just taking it off and running it without one. It has a brand new engine in it now and i would like to have a air filter on it (keep dirt out ect). I bought a cheap one at ABC auto parts store in town but im thinkin its not the correct diameter, its only about 3in in diameter. It was the only one that would fit the carburetor. I would like one that is about 12in in diameter so it would look better and not like a little four-wheeler filter.

I have a 69 f100 with 240, it came with an oil bath air filter. I changed to a dodge air cleaner assembly from I think a 1976 dart slant six. only modification necessary I dimpled the underside where the manual choke rotates for clearance of manual choke. Looks stock, bigger filter, and all the parts stores have it on hand.

ok, well I'm assuming taht you have the air cleaner assembly with you. While I don't know what size will fit, you could take the assembly in and try to line up a filter that will work. There should be seferal filters that are approximately the right size, and one that has the right height. The guys at the parts store should work with ya if they're not too busy.

Thanks for the help yall im goin today to see about it. Theres only one more thing I would like to ask: Without the choke on, when i give it gas at idle it will sputter and hesitate, but when I choke it about half way it will do just fine. But running it with the choke on makes it suck the gas down BAD!! Do any of yall have any suggestions as to what it could be? Thanks!!

Is the engine warm when it dies out? If it's cold then a little half choke is no problem, if it's warm then the carb is set wrong. The choke controls the amount of air that is let into the engine. If you need to keep it at half choke with the engine warmed up, then you are probably running lean on the carb. There isn't enough fuel getting to the engine under no choke, and that is causing the burnout. Try to rich up the mix to where it will run under no choke, and see if that helps. There are also gauges that you can buy that will tell you what your air/fuel mix is and you can adjust from there. This helps out a lot with carb adjustments. Just remember that all adjustments need to be made with a warmed up and well tuned and timed engine.
