F-350 super camper questions

Got a 76 super camper special today. Super nice truck, but hit some ice and met a pole at 50 mph. I've got the 460, a good desert cooler radiator and shroud and a dana 70 rear out of it, but wondering if anything else on the truck is special and worth saving?? is the front suspension or brakes anything special or?? Also is there any difference between the super camper dana 70 and a dually dana 70? I was hoping this one had a powerlock, but not that lucky. It sure doesn't look as beefy as everyone raves about.

Save everything not broken. You will be surprised what you or a friend may need down the line. You can never have too many parts.

Keep it ALL. From wuat I have been able to find out there was only 3300 made in this configuration during this body style run.

Take a close look at the radius arms. There should be a heavy torsion bar rivited between them. Also look at the rear end...there should be a torsion bar there too. You might consider using these on your next truck, F-250 or F-350.

Only 3300 made?? Wow.....good thing my Dads 76 SCS is in decent shape. Oh and if the bed isn't hammered...those are good to save also. They're hard to find.

Yeh..........save whatcha can. I have a 1978 Super Camper Special. Mine only has a 400 with a 4speed granny low manual transmission. Check out picture in gallery. It currently has a 1976 vintage bed. I guess the original got rusty. 1978s had doors over gas caps. 1976 gas caps are exposed. FYI.
Is the 3300 figure only for the 1976 model year? Or total run on this body style as you noted? Hard to believe. I see them from time to time. ??

I've seen too many of them to believe only 3300. These trucks are pretty common around these parts. I'm going to use the front and rear sway bars on my 70 F100. I don't have anything else 2wd and seam to come across 2wd fords for free or cheap all the time. Not too worried about saving every part that I can get from U-pullit for $5 when I need it. The truck does have some massive rear springs. Might save those. The bed is a goner. The pole hit the side of the bed hard enough to move the back of the frame 6 inches to the driver side. The cab is cherry though. Got an ad on craigslist for it for dirt cheap, but nobody seams interested. Scrapper might get a full load from this truck. The dana 70 was worth taking the truck though.

I'm not sure if the radius arms will fit. The F-100 has a small Kingpin and the F-250 and F-350 have Large Kingpin...the hardware might not cross over. The rear will probably fit though.

Dustin,
I could use the rear gas tank and support if it's in there.

The rear gas tank was mangled. Vinford- I happen to own one too! Theres only 3299 of them at most now. I do see a ton of these trucks. Maybe the all ended up in oregon? Quehele- I don't see why the sway bars won't fit. There's just a stamped bracket that is bolted under the coil spring. It has nothing to do with the kingpins that I can see. Everything from the kingpin inward looks identicle to 1/2 ton stuff. If the bracket doesn't fit, it's simple enough to fab a bracket that will. The rear sway bar lower brackets won't work on a nine inch housing, but I think I might have another truck with smaller lower brackets.

Your talking about Super Camper Special with the longer wheelbase ?
With the spare tire up inside the front of the box?
Right we are talking about the same trucks averagef-250?

Some guy on eBay "Want It Now" needs the spare tire door. Check it out.

73-79 FORD F350 PICKUP SPARE TIRE DOOR Post number: 8031004895

Time left: 13 days 2 hours
Date placed: Jan-16-06 16:02:18 PST
Location: wellington , OH

THE LARGE DOOR ON THE RH SIDE OF THE BED OF A F350 PICKUP.NOT THE TOOL BOX DOOR,THIS IS MUCH LARGER THE SPARE TIRE "LIVES" UNDER IT. I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER A COMPLETE BED,WITH DUAL TANKS BUT THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE 77-79 BECAUSE OF THE FUEL FILLER DOORS.I NEED THIS IN MINT OR NEAR MINT SHAPE DENTS OK RUST NOT AND NOT BIG DENTS.THANKS

My 1978 F-350 Super Camper Special was made in Canada.

Yes. It has the spare tire stored "inside" the box behind a special large door/cover.

Maybe that's why you are seeing alot of them ( 3300 supposedly ) in Oregon. ??
Just a thought. I have seen a handful in Kansas.
