Senate bill 1221/P.A. 94-0594 Prohibits radar Jamming devices. Including those liscense plate obscuring covers.

Radar detectors have been illegal in any commerical vehicle for several years.

I have had no trouble with my radar detector in the couple of times I have gotten pulled over. They really don't seem to care much jammers have always been illegal as far as i know radar detectors have been and will be legal in Illinois.

in my big truck, i took the detector apart, mounted it in a small project box, and made a clear front for it, mounted it in the grill so it was kinda hidden, then ran a swith to the cab with a buzzer. couldnt tell.

i went a little further with hiding my radar detector in my big truck. I took apart my CB radio and installed it inside the radio. i took the radar sensor and guts from the unit out of the plastic housing. i then cut a hole just big enough for the sensor in the back of my cb. after fitting it perfectly in the hole i wired the on off switch up to the brite dim switch for my cb. then i ran the speaker wires directly into the cb speaker. Whats great is i wired the power directly into the power connection so i can have the radar on or off at any time, doesnt matter if CB radio is on or not. As for the little warning lights i ran a small fiber optic line from the radar lights to my atenna warning light hole. It looks like the stock warning light. It took me forever to do this but it works great. i got stopped a month or so ago by a state trooper who said he picked up on his stuff that i had a radar device, so he was going to do a roadside DOT on me and wanted to search my cab for a device. I passed the test and he didnt find anything. Now i need to get a radar jammer and figure out where to install that. The only problem i having right now is my cb is about 6 years old and i should buy a new one. i not looking forward to doing all that again..

thats pretty nifty right there, never thought of that one. just keep in mind, a jammer ticket is alot worse than a detector ticket.

Without actually seeing a radar detector in our trucks, is there anyway for them to just know that we have one in there?
