What is the factory horsepower of a 1997 7.3 PSD crew cab 4x4? I am very new to the posting and have many questions. My 1997 has been with me since 2001 and I am now experiencing a few problems, many of which are currently being solved just from reading your postings. Thanks

This forum is always eager to help with many questions. Stock horsepower for 97 was (I think) 225. It's that or 215.

 

Thanks, I am developing a stall problem. It is intermittant. I sometimes have a smell of fuel about the engine compartment, and everyonce and awhile I will leave a stop and have just enough power to get out of my own way. Any thoughts?

 

How long since the fuel filter has been changed?

 

I thought a few miles back, I feel bad but I have really been neglecting my truck. I have read several posts about the Cam Pos sensor, fuel filter rest. sencor, Injector driver mods, but i have been holding back unitl i get a code reader ( two more days )

 

225, 911. its on a sticker on the passenger side valve cover, towards the front of the engine.

 

I heard that the additional length of drive shaft in the four door cab reduces horse power. Is that true at all?

 

The crank horsepower of your 97 PSD should be 225hp @ 3,000 rpm. Like stated before.....its on the valve cover.
