i don't know what i have done worng to this thing.
any help please
sounds like you have a case of the "letsees' as in the mechanic and his buddies at the shop saying "let's see- how many times we can get this guy back in here "
go to another place, shop around. . . not for prices, but for honesty. a good and honest mechanic(they are out there i promise) will tell it to you straight and show how to take it all in one swift kick i.e. if you have a problem, he'll tell you the solution, not the bandaid fix that will have you back in a few weeks so he can charge you more.
either do that or take 100 bucks and go to your trusted auto parts place and ask them to give you all you need for a certain repair(in this case, whataver's left to replace for the egr system) and do it yourself after consulting this site
good luck and always get a second opinion if you have any doubt. . then get a third opinion. if the stories change at ALL . . . someone is lying. talk to us on here, we'll help you out.
Before you change anything else, run your codes and zero in on your problem. If you have a bad sensor or relay, a trouble code will present itself and you can replace what is giving you "bad readings". Autozone will check your codes for free and I think they lend out their code readers.
What exactly is it doing? If it's a check engine light, I'd check the valve and sensor itself. 95% of the ones I've seen are a valve that is plugged up with carbon. Sometimes cleaning is enough to turn the light off, sometimes it takes a new valve.
On a 93, the computer can't tell how much EGR gas is actually flowing, it only knows how far the valve is opening. This leaves only the valve, sensor, EVR, and vacuum lines to cause the light to come on.
