Are you sure your actuator rod isn't broken? If you can get at that skinny rod that goes down to the ignition switch, I would push down hard on it, with the ignition switch on, and see what happens.

Is your ignition switch adjusted correctly on the column?

You say NSS, so I assume this IS an automatic.
They do go south. Try jumpering it to test.

If it's a manual gearbox perhaps firewall flex is keeping the clutch safety interlock from being depressed?

My actuater rod is good. I've manually depressed the ignition module and still no start. It's an automatic c6. I've tied starting it in neutral and I've dropped the column and visually inspected the rod.

Trying in neutral will only show if the Park contacts are bad.
Jumper the switch entirely, before you go chasing the wiring to the solenoid.

A NSS isn't cheap, but you may find that the connector is just loose or dirty.

Just have to connect the red/blue wires together.

Do your reverse lights work?

Actually no the reverse flood lights only come on if I jiggle the shifter **** on the column..it had a "sweet spot" then they would come on. I'm on 24 hour shift so I'll try crossing the wires tomorow when I'm off. The red and blue wires are the ones on the NSS on the tranny right? Cross those then try to start it with the key?

I was just trying to figure if it was completely unplugged.
The AOD has different colors than the C6's I'm used to.

I found this post;
.
AOD:

1) Black/pink........rev light
2) Pink/orange......rev light
3) Red/blue..........start
4) Orange/white...start
5) Red/white........ECM

By connecting them together you will confirm or eliminate the NSS as a possibility.
If you find the switch is loose or dirty then it should be simple to fix

Fordwarden, this link is a for a 7.5L but it may help you.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/689200-nss-replacement.html

jump the two wires that the NSS connects to complete the circuit.

Not sure what the wire colors are on your your model. (On the 1990 7.5L it's the white/pink wire and the red/lightBlue blue wire)

Good luck.

Wait!
In your first post you say 7.5l.
You have a C6, there should only be 4 wires.
I don't know where I got AOD. Eeesh!

I was not looking at the red/blue changing to pink/white at the harness connector.
Thank you BigGreen for the schematic.
