'02 Tranny Leak

'02 Tranny Leak

It looks like the leak is coming from where the tranny and transfer unit bolt together. The leak started as a few drops every once in a while to consistent drops anytime I park. If I am remembering correctly I had the same leak last winter and once spring came the problem went away. The truck is an ’02 F-350 PSD 4 speed. Any suggestions?

Have you checked the bolts on the adapter housing? There's gaskets there as well on both flanges.

No I haven't, I didn't realize there was a gasket in there. I'll try to get under the truck tomorrow and tighten them up. Is there a torque speck I should use or just hand tight?

I wish I could answer that for ya, there's a spec for about everything. On mine (auto) you'd be really hard pressed to get a torque wrench in there. Seems like a bunch of bolts like 16 or something.
