Greetings,
New to forum. Will be purchasing hybrid this summer. Has anyone installed LED tail lights in their hybrid? I was thinking that replacing the bulbs with LEDs may increase battery life (over the life of the batteries)/length of available power. Any thoughts?
Thanx,
Rich
I tried LED bulbs in my '05 XLT, but I found that they are not as bright as filament bulbs, which poses a safety issue. You also have to add some extra resistor units to the turn lights or else they will blink too fast, or not at all. You need a larger array of LEDs to match the luminosity of a filament bulb and the direct replacement bulbs don't have enough LEDs. You might look at some of the "altezza" lights that replace the entire light housing, though they're a lot more expensive. These would need to have a large array of LED bulbs to match the filaments in brightness.
