Cool electrical nightmare 77 ford 302

Here is what happened . I was pulling off the electrical tape off the driver side wires , from ignition electronic box to coil wires , oil sender wires , water temp wires , distributor wires , headlight wires , all wires on drivers side , reason was to reroute electric fan and tach wires that I taped to wire loom. Went to put them back on and no juice , wouldnt start , but cranked over fine . Checked spark , no spark from coil . Replaced ignition module box , no juice. Replaced coil , no juice , replaced ignition switch , no juice . Checked wires looked ok. Help still wont start , ran fine until I pulled all of the tape off , all the wires are exposed now . Tach wire goes negative side ? Red wire to coil positive side ? Pretty sure I have those right. Hoping not to take to the man for electrical repairs. Checked fuses also , no broken fuses . Any ideas before spending my rent money . KFLORD77.

After pulling on wires for a while...could one of harness plugs going through the firewall be loose?

The + side of the coil should have voltage with the key on and when cranking. You may have a bad wire that internally separated when you moved them around. If no voltage at the coil +, then trace that wire back and look for a bad spot. Probe it with a meter lead every few inches and see if you suddenly get voltage. If so, then the wire is bad.

The question is I am not getting spark from the coil now . I will try to trace wire , I did see a split in the wire insulation where I see the wire but not seperated inside , would that cause a problem? I dont know how to check wires with a probe , what kind of probe , a test light? Not good with wiring . KFLORD77.

You might want to find a friend that knows how to test and repair electrical circuits. I get the idea you are way over your head here. The electrical systems on these trucks were originally designed to last about 5 years and they are well past that so continual problems will be faced.

yes, use a test light to probe the wires. check for power at the connector than like lx said start tracing the wires back.
