I nominate Miss Texas. What? This isn't the Miss America pagent? Whoops . . . wrong forum, sorry.

I know I'm not part of this chapter but I think Gashog would be a good choice for the simple fact that he's online 24/7 and posts a lot. This is what keeps chapter forums rolling. The chapter leader doesn't 'rule' the chapter (except in the NW forum ) but just helps keep things organized and under control. I understand people wanting to meet in person before voting but honestly I don't think you'll 'know' each other any better after meeting in person than you will from interaction on this forum. You guys have really good ideas about a leader for each of the major cities in the region. That'll really help the get-togethers run smoothly.

Alright, enough of my blabbing. I gotta get back to the Miss America pagent.

Thank you, Mr. Ivanrubic, for your kind thoughts on our situation. I agree with you that gashog would be a good choice because he is online a lot.

However, maybe we should define just what we want in this chapter. I am hoping we wind up with a tight group of mechanically knowledgeable friends that are willing to stop by and help when you have a chore that takes two or more people - like lifting a cab off a frame or installing an engine. I recently drove to Tucson and assisted someone do a chop on a 56 - not only learned a lot, but really enjoyed the day.

In addition, sometimes it is fun to get out and about - like with a family outing such as a group campout or BBQ in a local park - or even a road trip to Reno.

Online you get a glimpse of what a guy wants to show you, and it is easy to get the wrong impression. In person you can better judge if you want this person to be working on your truck, or to meet him somewhere, or even invite him into your home.

Lately I have been a guest at several car clubs - where the people in the club all share a common interest - Mustangs, Ford Fatfendered pickups, Jeeps, and the like. We are different in that our members are interested in different things - some like the power of the diesel pushers, some are into 4WD, others in darkside mods or building hot rods. Some are not really into old fords but find that economic conditions force them to maintain an old truck.

If we are going to be viable, we have to find something that interests all these different people. So I guess I am saying that online presence is just an important administrative tool, but only one of many a chapter leader needs.

does FTE set a deadline for finding a chapter leader? i know that when Aaron took the job FTE set a date and if no one wanted it they would get rid of the chapter.

Not yet - at lest it has not been specified. We can cross that bridge when it gets here. If we have to we can do a temporary appointment while we get set up.

Does FTE setup some kind of automated vote or do we just post our vote?

Okay the first Question

does FTE set a deadline for finding a chapter leader?
Yes and no, as long as you are making progress in selecting a leader, no action is going to be taken. I do recomend that you take the time you all feel is needed.

Next

Does FTE setup some kind of automated vote or do we just post our vote?
You can do this many ways yourselfselves, A poll , aye or nay stlye where everyone says who they want, offline meeting combined with a online vote, or short straw drawing . I recommend that however you do this, run it for one week then close the voting with at least a weeks notice.

I hope this helps.

Wow I go on vacation for three days and all this progress! The next goodguys show in Pleasanton is March 25 & 26! I don't feel I need to meet someone in order for them to be in charge . I think that should be based on how much time they are online and if they are willing to do the job! As I look through all of these posts it is the same 10-15 guys on here, is there an actual count of how many people are members? Is it the frapper count?

Georgia, we get the actual count after we get a leader - I use the Frapper count as it shows the ones who are willing to do a little extra to help set up a meet.

*****, that was you that started the frapper wasn't it?
That was a good idea and sure did help with the realization of the chapter.
Good job!

When do we get this vote off the ground?

F2504x4, you being in a more objective position, do you think you could set up the pole? Maybe taking WillyB's frapper and finding e-mail address' to alert all pertinent members? Let me know if I can help out with anything.
