I have a 1990 Ranger 2.9, 5 Speed with original 14" wheels and would like to run 15" or 16" Ford factory wheels. I like the nicer early model Bronco II wheels but also like the later model five spoke style allows that come on Explorers or Sport Tracks. They all are five hole but are they interchangable and what about offset? Next question is the speedo, Bronco II 2.9's came with 15" wheels and tires so I assume correcting the speedo would be easy...I hope. Do they use transmission gears or is it electronic? I could buy lower profile tires to maintain the same diameter but wouldn't mind the slightly larger diameter. I don't really like the giant wheel and extremly thin tire look.
My cousin has a car lot here, he has a Broncoe II, I tried changing them out with the bron, doesn't fit the hub, the holes line up but it just doesn't fit..
You have the same idea I have for my 90 Ranger
Not a bad ideal, my father has a 2002 Ranger with the 15" five spoke chrome wheels. I prefer the allows but at least I could assure the fit and offset. I believe his tires will be a little big but its the easiest way to find out if I'm wasting my time looking for wheels. With everyone swapping out the factorys for oversized blingbling there must be a big pile of factory wheels laying around somewhere.
I got me a factory 14x5.5" rim for mine, $37 with a tire on it at the bone yard. IMO, thats pretty low cost, yet it matches the other 3 rims on it, and looks decent, so who am I to complain?
