I have a Superduty F350 that the drivers side door switch is not working properly. Sometimes at night the dome light stays on while driving because the truck thinks the door is open... It also wont lock the doors auto... Ill be driving down the road and the doors will lock randomly. Ihave tried to locate this switch but I am old shool and there is not a grounding switch that is visable........HELP!
the contact wire or the switch (on the door latch itself) is loose, or has been mis-aligned causing it to read as if the latch is in the open position. remove the door panel and di-connect the wire. remove the switch with a 5.5 mil socket, clean the flange and bend it back into position. this usually occurs after someone has used a slim-jim on the door.(either attempting to steal the vehicle, or after locking the keys inside) we see the odd occurance of this at the assembly plant. the other possibility would be a bad or improperly (loose) grounded control module, and bad relay. but if the condition just started, (i am assuming a newer?? 2000 + model i would lean towards the door ajar switch itself. this would be the cheapest and first item to investigate.
