Designed by N.A.S.A. - Why?
So I'm watching this commercial for a mattress, apparently it is made of some kind of foam & gel that molds(moulds?) to your body shape. If that is not enough to make you want to buy it they mention that it was "Designed By NASA" and then mention it has a 20! year warranty/guarantee.
This is supposed to be a very supportive matress...
My question is if this matress was designed by NASA, presumably for astronauts to use in a gravity free environment!, WHY the "H E double hockeysticks" would I want to buy it to use in gravity?!
WHat other products are touting the "Designed By NASA" line? and are they justified?

I belive the product you are altaking about is the "memory foam" bed. I have never figured out what NASA needed that foam for. I have a bed with the memory foam as a pillowtop over the coils, and it's prett darned comfy. One thing to watch for is since it's so soft, you'll sink in a fair ways and you don't get much air circulation around your skin, so it can make you sweat more than a harder mattress.

Probably one of NASA's scientists was working on something and decided it wouldn't work, so he tossed it out and the folks at Tempurpedic asked if they could keep it... But unlike the folks at Walmart, they had no problem with giving away their garbage, and the rest is history. (Now that particular scientist sees the tempurpedic commercials and says to his wife, "You know, I gave them their first piece of foam..."
"Of course you did, Dear...")
