My dad had it done at 79 yrs old and it took about a year before he would say it was much better than before, but he could hardly walk before and now at 83 he walks normal- It'll be fine - good luck
hi guys
THANK YOU ALL for the prayers and well wishes, i was dischaged this am at about 0900est and made it home with the wife driving by about 1015 est.
the surgury took 6 hours to fuse c5,6,&7 together and add a titanium plate to secure it all together, on the 7th with my last veiw of a clock reading 0930 est ,thats all i remember after that till about 220 at night. waking up and looking at this pile of tubes in my arm. monators of all kinds hooked up yet.with wires all over,
i asked the nurse where i was? ICU . no wonder all the hook up's.
art man was that the good drugs for killing pain.
don that guy john is my bother ,he stayed at my home to baby sit my 2 golden retrivers while my wife stayed at my late moms sisters house a 5 mile drive from the hospital to help save time.
it's still going to be some time before i'm back to my old self in fte as the doc. stated limit it to no more the 10 min. max.
THANKS AGAIN GUYS , all of you will never know how much you al mean to me.
I'm glad they gave you the good stuff
Let me know when you need to briven to Betty Ford's
Just kidding. But take it from experience, wean yourself off of the drugs slowly over a few days. One of the hardest things I ever did was hit the bottom of the pill bottle two weeks after I got all my teeth ripped out ... But it wasn't too bad, just a sense of depression
Good luck with the neck! Try not to look at the pretty girls when you're driving your V10
Hopefully a speedy recovery, I know your V10 will miss giving you those bseg's for a while. If you need some one to drive it and make sure the "carbon" doesn't build up I'd be gald to help you out, lol. Keep rested up and do what you have to to recover, That means no physical activity, you may want ot consider telling the wife she has to sleep in the guest bedroom, lol. Get Well soon, we'll be looking forward to your "fulltime" return to FTE!
Charlie, you gave them Hemi drivers a little reprieve while you been on the mend. They will be real cocky when you get back behind the wheel.
My wife had the same surgery on her neck a few years back and is enjoying a pain free neck ever since. The Doc who cut on her said in reviewing her post surgery X rays, "looks pretty good, Amanda, but darn if I didn't get that one screw in a little crooked."
Take it easy and don't try to rush back to drag racing. Them Hemi's will wait. I enjoy your input on these threads.

My dad had his done and he was so pleased with it he had the other one done. I guess that's an endorsement! That was a long time ago and I know the technology has improved a great deal since then. So go for it and get the pain behind you. Be sure you do your rehab too so you don't stiffen up.
Errr............. disregard my signature on this one.

fyrhog - regarding hip replacement, I could give you the e-mail address of someone (mid sixties) who had both hips replaced maybe 4 or 5 years ago, and then again later due to some problems that developed.
