It is very hard to build an auto to take that much torque. Especially when considering the size constraints. If youve ever seen a medium duty transmission designed to take 700 lb ft youd know they wouldnt fit in a pickup. I doubt Ford nor Dodge are gonna let Chevy be in the lead for long. We been playin leap frog for too many years to stop now.
The reason they increased displacement was to not lose hp during this latest emissions phase. So it is feasable that ratings would stay the same even with the increase. I think it not likely though. Too much rivalry going on in this very competitive market.

i know. 610 and a lot more displacement.
700lb feet is not hard to hold in a transmission, they could make them hold that kind of power from the factory if they wanted.
their are plunty of guys that are changing the torque converters and clutch packs in the allison and are holding over a 1000 pound feet of torque. the tranny is not hard to do. emmisions is the hard part.

The idea of a 610ft.lb.tq doesnt sit well with me. Although i dont think i would buy a 2007 dodge brand new due to its new motor, thanks to ford and it 6.0 fiasco i will never by an untested engine again. Even as it stands untested it doesnt make any sense that the 6.7 would push the same ratings as this year. I guess we will have to wait and see.

that's what i thought. the new motor would atleast make old standards. i was thinking 400hp/700lb ft. those are the same expectations i have for the new PSD but hey its cool if they want to make the new PSD 305hp
