has anyone on this board heard of an efi system by the name of mega squirt. i have been checking it out and it looks pretty neat but i am wondering just how well it works.
Yes, I helped a friend solder one together. He has the megasquirt/megajolt combination (EFI and spark).
It worked fine, and is completely tunable as it is, and why my friend go the two projects for his toy.
However, it doesn't support emissions "stuff" so ultimately my buddy had to switch back to an OEM EFI system so he could get his truck through CT emissions (which is similar to CA as far as testing goes).
We ended up installing a 93 mustang mass-air EFI system, and he purchaed "Tweecer", and I loaned him a laptop until he got a used one on ebay for tuning purposes. Now he has emissions compliance and a fairly healthy cam (and heads, and crank, and a 7000 redline).
He sold the mega-pair on ebay, and got tons of bids for it. It's really a good unit, and a lot of fun for the DIY'er.
how hard was it to put together and install? i am new to tunning and really want something thats affordable. as a side note when did they start making a megajolt and where can i find some reading on it?
