My first post to this forum - hello all.

I have a new-to-me 2000 F350 - so far I've had a few (thankfully iced) coffees dumped in my lap by that stupid design; it should be labeled the cup thrower, not holder. So answer #1 is don't try the 2000 version. Every once in a while I forget and stick a cup in there...

I have the same question, is there a replacement cup _holder_ that actually does ?

Thanks,
Charles

Yes, the newer style does fit. I did the swap on mine. I got sick of dumping my pop all over the floor everytime I turned! I'm not sure what you they changed, but I think 2001 maybe. The only difference is that the tan on the new one, won't match the tan on your 99. But I leave mine pulled out all the time, and you cant even notice. If you wanted to, you could get a spray can matched to your interior and paint. The holder was a little pricey through the stealership, around $60-70 bucks I think, but definately worth it!!

I have never had a drink come out of the pull out cup holder. I thought you guys were talking about the center console.

Can't you swap the front piece between the 2 cup-holders? on my 99 it looks like it un-screws. I also wanna get rid of the cup-throwers aswell. I wanna keep it all stock looking tho, so it'd bug me if the color's didnt match.

Oh, and for anyone who doesnt know the difference, the 99 style cup-holder uses some soft foam to try to hold the cups in place... which doesnt work well at all. Plus there ugly. haha.

on my 99, it has the plastic grip on the pull out holder. Hold things in there nice and tight.

The newer style with the claw gripping parts instead of the styrofoam flaps will fit fine in the older trucks.

I was recently looking to buy one myself. I found them on Ebay, like Medic suggested. The guy selling them on Ebay had the tan ones for 2000 and up models, and also the other tan color for the 99 models. Then I also checked http://www.powerstrokeshop.com and they have them there for around $12 cheaper than the guy on Ebay, IIRC. Planning to order from them once I can think of a couple other things I need, so I can order all at once.

I had the same problem with the factory cup thrower on mine 99 PSD.

I found a nice aftermarket cup holder at www.genogarage.com that works very well

To take a look at it, Go under ford powerstroke-interior accessories, it is call (Cup Smooth) and cost $ 36.00

It can hold coffee mugs or the large pops from McDonalds. I've never lost drink with it.

Now that's pretty neat.... gives you the big storage of the fold-down arm rest of the 99/00, plus the cupholders of the newer trucks, and cheaper than replacing the factory cup holder ($36 compared to $50-something).... now I've got to choose.
