Repairing die cast aluminum???
Does anyone know if it is possible to solder or otherwise repair die cast aluminum??
Project is an antique toy truck bumper. Seems like it would be similar to repairing
cast auto emblems, etc. Seems as though I read about how it can be done, but I have a condition called CRS. Can't remember.
Did a search here and did not find anything.
Thanks for any help

the alumalloy rods work very well, as long as both surfaces are clean. the cleaner the better. for thin, a propane torch works, but i prefer to use a map gas torch. for heavier gauge, a brazing torch in needed.
it is best to practice a few times before doing something valuable, aluminum has a very narrow working window. it is either too cool, just rite, or melting. the window between to cool and melting is only something like 75 or 100º. i practiced by welding beer cans together. after i did a few cans, i moved up to different thicknesses. it took me about 2 weeks to get good enough to do precision work. i still do a test piece before i get down to it, just to check the torch, hand and thickness.
