OK, My truck is runing rough. I just did the fuel mods thinking maybe it was air in the lines. The driver side bank is much quieter. Passenger side sounds like it is comming apart. I did a hand on/near the manifold and I've determined front cylinder (#1) is not firing, #3 is extremely hot. I can't get hand real close to manifold. Truck smokes white if reved when hot or cold. Smells like a charcoal fire with too much starter fluid. High pressure oil is about 700 psi at idle, but it jumps a lot. Guage is on passenger side rail. I unplugged passenger side valve over connection and she still runs. Oil pressure stops jumping. I checked voltage at connector and got less than 5vdc between the middle wire and each injector wire while the other side was plugged in and the motor was running. Plugged passenger side back up and unplugged driver side. She died immediately. I checked voltage as before (engine not running, but key on) passenger side barely move needle when set on 15vdc, driver side about 5 vdc. I checked continuity back to IDM and everthing checked out.
Can anyone tell me what the voltage should be running and off but key on?
Any other ideas would be appreciated.
You guys have always come through before.
Oh Yeah, I replaced IDM about a year ago. Had a no start problem, finally narrowed down to IDM.
Thanks,
Craig
Update
I pulled injectors #1, 5, and 7 today. (#3 was the only one that manifold was really hot on that side)Cleaned them. There was a lot of carbon build up on tip. Sprayed with some stuff called PB blaster (its a penatrant and good for getting stuff clean). Put it all back together. Engine sounds a lot better. Oil Pressure still bouncing but not as much. Hovers between 800-900. Still a little white smoke when I rev it, but no where near as much as before. I was also able to unplug the driverside UVC plug and she kept running.
I am running the grey bottle of diesel clean in it. Just what it calls for on the bottle. I have heard people say to up the dose to clean out the injectors. What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance,
Craig
