I am not sure where ford390 got his information but he is right and wrong form what I have read. I am not an expert but I found the following while searching around on the net. Good luck!
This was very informative. Especially about the lower gain when using higher grade to begin with.
A lot of this isn't for you but scroll down to the additive section. Good stuff there.
Again, scroll down to the section on boosters. Interesting.
I found these just looking around on the net. Take them for what they are worth (might not be much). I don't think that Ford360's evaluation was 100% accurate. If you use the right stuff (seems to be NOS) and you use in on low octane gas (you will) then you should see some improvements.
Good luck.

those 3 links have been posted before. they all have a lot of errors in them. read how the octane points system works. you can contact a fuel company like chevron as they are the most helpful, they will point out the fact it goes by .10 not by 1.0 as those articles show. you can even find that info on the back of some bottles in small print

most companies will state the octane rating and some are very honest about it like champion is http://www.championbrands.com/octane_booster.asp

But he was looking for higher than 87 octane.
I'd be careful not the increase the CR so much that it needs higher than 93 octane gas. The racing fuel is monstrously expensive. You can get it around here at Wally World (Walmart) for about $5 per gallon. (((ouch))) Keep it to pump gas. In fact, I was careful with my rebuild (400M) not to increase that CR over the top. I did lots of math on it.
