Talking Up and running again!! YeeeeHawww!!

First of all - a 1000 thanks to you guys who talked turbo's with me all this past week!! Thankyou Cookie, Dockboy, Jtharvey, Mech2161, Strokin_it7.3, PSNut....

My turbo came this afternoon - so as soon as I got home from work - I headed right over to put my rig back to right again! Here's what's new -

BB Turbo
Non-ebv pedistal
Gillett Diesel Power Outlet (non EBV)
Turbo oversize O-ring and Bolt Kit (from KCM Diesel)
ITP HPX crossover
Exhaust Backpressure Sensor Code Eliminator, and
EBPV Code Eliminator (both from BCD)

FIRST - you will NOT miss this thing spool up!! I'd say wicked wheel x4 (at LEAST) - this thing sounds like a 747 on takeoff!!! I can NOT wipe the grin off my face!!

SECOND - between the BB, and totally losing the EBV - I dropped over 300* EGT!! I did the equivilant of a 1/4 mile run (on my 125 setting) on a back road right before I came home - held it to the floor all the way to 100mph, and EGT's held steady at 950*!!! (Before I was hovering right at 1250* doing the same run!!) The wastegate seems to actually work correctly - boost jumped up to 34-35, and held steady, without going over!!

I will post some more thoughts and info tomorrow - I am too wired on Dew and diesel smoke to even think staight any longer tonight.

Glad you're up and running again!

New setup sounds awesome! Let's hear a sound clip of that turbo whine (if you can record one!)

Can you give a rough estimate of what that would all cost... for future reference?

That's great!! I'm glad I was able to talk turbo's with you. I think I learned a few things too!

That was pretty quick too, but it probably seemed like an eternity to you having your PSD out of comission for a few days. I'm with ryan, I'd love to hear a sound clip of the whine on that thing.

I'm sure you'll be grinning ear to ear for the next month or two listeing to that thing whine. Congrats!!

Man... I don't have any means of recording a sound clip - though I don't know if it would do the new sounds justice! You guys are just gonna have to go buy your own!!!

Powder coated

Cat-man...have u considered powder and ceramic coating the BB unit. Make
it your OWN custom turbo. Strokin has good info on this process.

You know what I like listening to....the sound of it coasting down. After you shut the truck off you can hear the turbo winding down on the rollers for about 3 minutes.

You guys ever hear a Pete Jackson gear drive on a SBC? Thats kinda what the BB sounds like rolling around at part throttle.

The reference to Jackson says a lot. Very distinctive sound. Ain't NOTHING like square-cut gears to make that sound!
