My weekend (photos)

Well, this was my weekend, what was yours like?

Went 4x4'ing in the Ranger

My neighbour and a few other friends came along too (29 vehicles and 75 people in total).
The neighbours mean Range Rover (powered by a blown 5.2l Rover V8)

Unfortunately (as is the case in Australia) the vehicles were predominately Nissans and Yota's, with a couple of Land Rovers.
There was one other Ford (also a Ranger), oh and a Ford Maverick - essentially a rebadged Nissan Patrol.

Some of the vehicles as we arrived at the campsite:

Aformentioned Ford Maverick in front (aka A Nissan Patrol)

And the trusty little Ranger

The Terrain we encountered wasn't overly difficult:
(A Nissan Navara)

(A Land Rover Discovery climbing up to the right - vehicle in Front of us, driven by a character called Alvie, he has to be the only person in the world that wheels a Hoodini)

Now you saw the trailer the Ranger was towing in the first pic...

What else to you do when you are in the middle of nowhere???

Carry an industrial sized bovine cooking machine

In action:

And create big fires!!!

We got stopped a couple of times by fuel pump issues on a diesel Series 1 Discovery

The vehicle in question (with lots of manly blokes surrounding it attempting to fix aforementioned problem)

Here we are, all banked up waiting for the Discovery:

Here we are all, at lunch - had great weather for the trip:

Now the scenery almost makes the beer drinking, meat eating, fireworks and general ruckus worthwhile

In case you couldn't guess, we were in the middle of nowhere - not a house for 50 miles

Out of curiosity, where were you at down there? That red soil on the road caught my attention; I remember that stuff when I was there.

The Alpine National Park in Victoria.
Here is a quick map - the red "splodge" in the bottom right corner is about where we camped, and from there we drove over a number of trails in the park.

For a point of reference, Benalla is about 160miles North East of Melbourne.
