yo Art, what ? You never heard of the "rev-tune" ? Hold her wide open until she clears herself out and gets warm enough to boil any condensation off the engine. There, now ya know,,,,,
Sure, and that's when my '96 4.6L would boil the water and short out the plug
I wash mine all the time with low pressure water, mild soap and a brush. Then I blow it dry with my Stihl leaf blower. Never had a problem. I do let it dry for a few hours before I start it.
I think everything is sealed pretty good-but I wouldn't use a pressure washer on it. One thing I did a while ago that really helps keep the bay clean is install those rubber wheel well liners that come on Excursions. The part #s are posted frequently on here and they were cheap. They eliminate mud and water from entering the engine bay through the wheel well openings. Now the only dirt on my engine is just the usual dust that accumulates-especially bad in the summer when it's dry.
I wash mine a couple of times a year. I have never had a problem. I just changed the plugs and the boots seal pretty well. If you are careful not to spray directly on the COPS you should not have a problem.
My truck had 106,000 miles on it and a couple of the boots are starting to crack so make sure you change the boots every 100,000 miles or so. No rust on the plugs and they are the unplated variety. The new ones are nickel plated.
