Thats what it is all about though. If we become exstinct thats what was ment to be. **** doing drastic things to help clean the air is like getting up to go to the bathroom during a test that you didnt study for.

Well, this debate could continue on forever, so I won't add much more to it and try to get back to truck-talk. However, I don't subscribe to a predestination theory and don't believe that anything is "meant to be." Also, the dinosaurs did not have a choice - they were dinosaurs with brains the size of walnuts and had no ability to comprehend their relationship with the world. We humans, however, have the ability to think and make informed, not reflexive, responses to external events. Thus, we can recognize a situation, realize where it is heading, and take proactive steps to alter the outcome and achieve a more favorable outcome. This is the essence of "being human." In any event, I plan on putting cats back on my truck, riding my bike to work when I can, and do my small part to reduce the junk put into the air. Maybe it will help, maybe not. But if we don't try, then we will never know what could have been. Peace to all.

mike2112, I'm not familiar with dynomax's parrallel inlet outlet cat. I meant factory configuration when I said 2 into 1. The two factors that will effect efficiency with a cat are inlet and outlet diameter: does either restrict the exhaust flow. The other factor is the diameter of the honey comb. Usually it's square in shape, so figure width and height. If the dyno max cat gives you equal honey comb diameter to 2 high flow cats, then I would say that the performance will be equal. If the dynomax cat has the same honeycomb dimension as one high flow cat ( and the only difference is the inlet and outlet configuration) it will be more restrictive, especially with higher cfm.

So, did you connect the little tubes on the cats which go to the engine, creating one? What did you to do that, flexible tubing of some sort or weld some tubing together?

little tubes? are you talking about the air injection ports? Yes, I connectected them to the pollution pump (air pump). Air tube was already in place, just had to add some tubing to make the connection.

I have a question, has any body ever had a fine for removing cats?
If the state you live in don't have an inspection for emissions and you drive into another state can they fine you for removing them?

As it is a federal law, and, I suppose most, if not all, States have adopted at least the federal standard prohibiting the removal of cats, it is probably theoretically possible for you to get ticketed. But, as most local police don't really care about enforcing these kinds of laws on out-of-state vehicles, unless the cop is really pissed at you for some other reason, it probably isn't likely. Having said that, however, I would be just a little bit more cautious regarding traffic laws and bank robbery laws if I were to take my cat-less truck into an "inspection state." You never know how any particular cop is going to feel on any particular day.

I wonder would there be any problem with removing them on a 88' 460 engine? Any engine alterations to be done? In my country they do not have unleaded fuel everywhere so I suppose the effect of the cat will be gone anyway/

If you're burning leaded fuel, it will plug your cats, and the environment is already screwed, so I'd go ahead and cut them off.

I just removed my cat on Friday. Both me and my truck are much happier now. If my cat makes me burn more gas, that means more pollutants are coming out the tailpipe. How does that help any of us, except that we don't have that smell. All I know is that I fixed 90% of my problems.

Sounds like good news. Is there anything else on pipes or cables i have to change?
What about this EFI-thing and Oxygen sensor/warning lights? Sometimes one reads "no problem" and sometimes "changes to be made".

Nope the oxy sensor is infront of the CAT and I dont know of any other pipes or cables enless you have a turbo or a back pressure system. So you should be ready to roll.

Well put - I was reading the first responses thinking that it was local laws that determined it.
