69 f100 390 timing problem
i rebuilt my 390 1yr ago its bored 0.60 over ,flattop pistons,shaved heads ,stainless valves,aluminum streetmaster 390 intake,edlebrock750 4bbl,etc.... it has never run to top performance. the timing is ok but i cannot get it to get to go over 4000 rpm's without choking.i changed it over to ford duraspark electronic ignition that im gettin ready to change to a mallory microprocessor ignition.what have i done to cause it to not perform corectly????????

What Cam are you running? This can make a big difference in what the rpm capability is. The intake manifold plays a factor too...I don't know myself how good the streetmaster 390 is....I know the Edelbrock performer 390 is not a good intake for higher rpm's. Someone else will probably weigh in here on the streetmaster 390.
