hey everyone so yea i had some questions...so here they are...i have a 1990 ford bronco EB eddition and my brother has a 1987 ford bronco EB eddition... for the most part they are complete identical twins from the exact color and body style all the way down to comming from the same car lot haha kinda weired..any ways my truck has a new 302 put in it and has bout 3,000 miles on it and my bros engine has 190,000 miles on it lol and pushing oil through the main seals...he's got a new tranny with about 2,000 miles on it and i have one with about 5,000 miles on it...i got turbo dual exauhst with no cataletic converters and he has the exact things too.... i have a K&N FIPK and he has stock...and now for the tricky part....HIS HAS WAY MORE *** TO IT AND HAULS *** COMPARED TO MINE lol.....kinda frustrating on account mine is very healthy and should run that way now i didnnt go into detail what all has been replace on my truck lol cuz it would go on forever BUT i dont know why his is faster...at times when im driving it floored everywhere it runs sorta strong then after awhile when i accelerate after a stop, it sputters a lil and very laggy then smooths out...is there something i need to adjust, clean, or WHAT EVER I WANT THIS THING AS GOOD AS OR BETTER THAN MY BROTHERS LIKE I FEEL IT SHOULD BE....his is mostly stock and what isnt stock on his i have the exact thing.... please someone help me i would really greatly appreciate it.. thanks a bunch..
Well there was a bunch of different ratios that were stock. He might have lower gears giving it better acceleration and power.
I have four F150's at work, all with the 300 and E4OD, identical trucks in every way exept one has 3.08 gears and the others have 3.55 gears. All the trucks with the 3.55 gears takes off faster and will just basically go faster than the truck with the 3.08 gears.
both are different trannys to. the 87 has an AOD and your 90 is an e4od. check your codes, give your motor a tune up. what plugs/wires and what is your timing set at
tune up? its got more expensive spark plug wires than the original ones i mean they are bigger and more heavy duty and new plugs as well when we had the motor put in..is there any small things i could check i mean that could possibly be the problem like maybe cleaning something out i dont know i just feel that it has more potential to it and its just being held back for some reason..but i really do appreciate the responses so far this has been a lot of help and im learning a lot thanks everyone..but if you have anymore ideas dont hesitate to say em..
what kinda plug wires and what kinda plugs are you running. expensive dont mean anything. whats your timing set at. try bumping it up to 12* btdc with spout connector removed
Well my new bronco has a 351 w/eod and 3.55LS gears with 78000 miles and my 86 f150 302 w/aod and 355 open rear w/180000 miles and my 86 will smoke my bronco but of coarse its two wheel drive though!
well i looked at my spark plug wires and they said like benden or something like that and they 8mm but for the sparkplugs idk i didnt look...is there really a big dramatic power that can be lost through plugs and wires? i still dont think its them cuz they new but u never know any other things i can look at b4 i start buying stuff?
i took Kemicalburns advice and put a MSD coil and Ford Racing 9mm wires along with Autolite double platinum plugs at .55 gap and set my timing at 13 degrees BTDC and i can tell a definate difference in power. not that expensive either
