1950 Ford Inner Fenders

Can anyone tell me if someone is making an inner fender kit for the 48-50 Ford F-1? Bitchin Products makes it for the Chevy but I have not been able to find them for the Ford. Sacramento Vintage Ford listed them in their catalog but they say they are no longer in production from their supplier. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Alvin

Alvin,
Welcome to the board! How bad are yours torn up? It seems like these always tear themselves apart where they attach to the frame. If you look at them carfeully you will notice that the entire front clip attaches to the radiator support that is spring mounted, the fenders attach to the cab that is rubber mounted, but then the lower rear of the inner fenders is mounted hard to the frame. This tears them up. I am getting rid of the mounting tabs on my inner fenders and will secure the inner fenders to the flange of the front cab mount so that the whole front clip can float. The 51-52 trucks don't have those 2 lower rear mounting tabs (I think)

How about taking some pics of your truck and creating a gallery so we can see what you have. We all just love to check out the other guys trucks.

We're glad to have you
Bobby

I believe that I have at least 2 sets laying around. I don't need them. Have no problem getting rid of them. Let me know if you're interested. I'm in CA and can ship.

Welcome aboard Alvin. Some of our other members will be along with more information concerning your question. I'd jump in but my truck is a little newer than yours and the parts aren't the same.

Thanks for the kind words. Very little on the front of the truck remains original. When I got it it already had a 302 with C4 transmission and I decided to streetrod it. The truck has fiberglass fenders and will sit on a Fatman Fabrications roller chasis, rack & pinion steering, disc brakes, four-link rear suspension, etc. The truck is currently in very little pieces at a shop in Gettysburg, PA and they have started to modify the inner fenders to fit around the chasis and polished upper control arms and fill all the holes, and smooth the appearance of the original inner fenders. It just costs so much at an hourly rate that they told me it would be cheaper if I could find new metal or fiberglass inner fenders to work with. The last picture I have is of everything from the front end sitting on stands or hanging from hooks in the paint booth for primer. I will start a gallery shortly to share the truck and it's progress.

Bobby, Thanks for the information. What I'm really looking for are new inner fenders such as Bitchin Products has for the C**** pickup. I've attached a picture. I haven't been able to find anything like this for my Ford. Alvin

Don't know of anyone reproducing original ones or making new ones like you want for the 48-52 trucks. The 48-52's don't get as much attention in the aftermarket as the 53-56's do. I would think if someone starts making them they could sell enough to retire, it's 5 years worth of trucks out there that could use them and the originals are pretty beat by now. Rusty originals on ebay rake in quite a bit so people obviously need them.

Alvin,
Something like that would be nice. I think that it is clear what needs to be done.....
....yes, Grasshopper, you must step out into the real world and accept your quest, you must fabricate inner fenders for 48-52 trucks for all those in need.

I found them in aluminum at No Limit Engineering. They have them plain or with flames.

Here's the link for the plain which I ordered:

http://www.nolimit.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=424

They're back! Custom made Aluminum inner fenders for your Classic Hot Rod.
Made of .070” Aluminum.
Bolts to the stock holes , comes in a brushed finish.

They have them for other years also. Thanks everyone for all your help. Alvin
