My solution to laying on my motor while fixing my oil leak!!

Well I was REALLY not looking forward to being all bruised and banged up next weekend, AFTER laying on my motor for hours to fix my oil leak. SO... I pulled a little A-Team action, and made this riggin up today with steel I had laying around the shop!! Now I actually look foreward to pulling my turbo!!

O yea - I put the rest of the pics in a new gallery - check 'em out.

The part with the towel over it is removeable - like for working on something near the front of the motor. But to get to the turbo, or something at the back of the motor - you just scoot up on the part where the towel is, and I can comfortably reach the firewall without straining, or having engine components sticking you in the ribs!!

Nice work. Now I'm wishing I had a welder and some scrap steel lying around.

i am also pulling my turbo this weekend to fix a pedestal leak too. how much does that cost to ship to MD?

naa i dont need that extravagant stuff, im tough enough to just lay stomach down on top of the engine when fooling around back there with the turbo. you wouldn't believe the pointy stuff that pokes you in the ribs!

Dude, PATENT THAT before someone else rips it off. I have seen a similar rig up like that that sells for $9800, but it was more like a "bucket truck" for mechanics, LOL....

CatMan; Capital idea!! I was just on my way out to the barn to fire up my welder, when I saw what you did. Must be nice to have that much spare steel laying around!

I also noticed your lighted valance, I like that too. Are those LED's, or just regular bulbs?

thats pretty slick, now all you need is a tray at the end of it to hold your tools/bolts n stuff that you take off.

i looked on mapquest about a week ago for Elverson, and i saw how close it was to an RC club i belong to that i went to a few weekends in a row back in summer 2005 for making a track. you anywhere close to "the buck"? i know alot of backroads from my house to the buck.

anyway i have experience taking the turbo off, ive got it down to 2.5 hours. took me 5 hours the first time. maybe you should come down, my shop is heated, how bout you?

Yea The Buck is about... an hour west and a little south from Elverson.

Heated shop? Check

Fridge with cold beer IN the shop? Check

My rig is leaking really bad now - I drove it yesterday over to my shop - and it must have dumped a half a quart on the floor when I pulled it in to take some measurements for my new work platform thing I made.....
